How-To Guide: Duo Passcodes
Overview
Due is the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) tool that the university uses to authenticate in to university systems using Duo Push or Duo Passcode. Push is the preferred method for authenticating, but Duo Passcode is a secure option if you are in airplane mode or otherwise without a cellular or Wi-Fi Internet connection. You need the Duo app downloaded on your device to enter a passcode.
What You'll Need
- Duo App installed
- Activate your Duo account
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Log in with your university credentials.
Step 2: Click "Verify" on the pop-up window from Duo.
Step 3: Duo will try to send you a Push and the wheel will spin as it waits for you to accept the Push on your device.
- Select "Other Options" below the spinning wheel.
Step 4: Open the Duo App on your device.
- Open CU Secure.
- A passcode will populate.
- There will be a 30 second timer underneath the passcode. If you don’t use that passcode before it expires then the account refreshes with a new passcode and the countdown begins again.
- If the account does not show a countdown indicator, then the passcode shown is valid until used. Tap "Refresh Passcode" to generate a new Duo passcode.
- Enter that passcode in the field on your computer.
