How-To Guide: Request Parking Code in EMS
Overview
This guide will help you request a CU Anschutz Campus parking code in EMS for activities that are not associated with a room reservation or event.
What You'll Need
Before you begin, you'll need:
- Access to the EMS Web Application using your University login
- Submit this request at least 72 hours in advance of the activity
- Please note, EMS Web Application is optimized for use on a desktop or laptop computer
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Log in and begin your reservation
- Log in to EMS
- Click "CREATE A RESERVATION"
- Scroll to the "Resource/Services Only" template
- Click "book now"

Step 2: Enter the active dates for the parking code
- Use the "Date" field to select the date for the parking code to be active
- Enter an estimated "Start Time" and "End Time," this does not need to be exact
- For recurring dates, click the "Recurrence" button, enter in the date pattern of the occurrence, and click "Apply Recurrence"
- Tip: If the code needs to be active for use every day over the course of the year, use the "Recurrence" button to schedule the request for the 31st of every one month. This will ensure the reservation falls on the last day of the month for billing. Do not add the code to every day of the year, or it will need to be resubmitted. Annual codes are billed monthly in arrears.

Step 3: Enter the location of the activity
- In the "Location" field, include the name of the preferred lot
- Click "Next Step" to continue to the next page

Step 4: Select the parking code item
- On the "Services" page, scroll down to the "CU Anschutz Parking" section
- Answer the questions, not all are required
- Select at least one service item in the list to move forward
- For a parking code, select "Request a Parking Code(s) - Event Paying"
- Type additional instructions or requests in the "Special Instructions" box and click "OK"
- Tip: Enter a quantity of "1" for the parking code item, do not enter the number of people who will use the code. A single code can be redeemed by multiple users and for multiple times and will be billed monthly based on actual usage of the code.

Step 5: Provide your speedtype
- After selecting the parking item, it will populate on the right in the "Services Summary" area
- Scroll to the bottom of the page to the "Speedtype" field and enter your speedtype, a speedtype is required for a parking code to be created and confirmed
- Click "Next Step" to continue to the next page

Step 6: Enter your information
- Complete the information on the "Reservation Details" page, fields outlined in red are required
- After completing all required fields, click "Create Reservation"
- Requests will be reviewed in the order received, and all parking requests must be submitted 72 hours prior to the activity in order to issue the code
- Tip: Additional service items not associated with a room reservation can also be requested using this same "Resource/Services Only" template
